Artist Statement

Pastine was born in New York, NY. She received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute 1993, and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Instate in 1996. She was the recipient of a Fleishhacker Grant in 2014, a Pollock Krasner Grant in 2009, and a Kala Fellowship in 2011.

Pastine has had solo exhibitions at Eleanor Harwood Gallery in San Francisco, Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia, PA, James Harris Gallery in Seattle, WA, and Rena Bransten Gallery in San Francisco. Her recent group exhibitions include Trestle Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, The Whatcom Museum in Bellingham Washington, Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, the Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Fe, NM, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art in Charleston, SC, Radiator Gallery in Long Island City, NY, Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA, and the Fellows of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. She has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle’s 96 Hours by Kimberley Chung, Lab Magazine in 2013, New American Paintings in 2010, and the Marin Independent Journal in 2009. Pastine’s work has been reviewed in The Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia City Paper, The San Francisco Chronicle, New Art Examiner, The Stranger, the Oakland Tribune, and Artweek. She is represented by Eleanor Harwood Gallery in San Francisco.
