Eleanor Harwood Gallery is thrilled to announce Mary Finlayson's second solo show with the gallery: "This Must Be the Place". The exhibition will be on view from March 1st, through April 18th, 2025 and the opening reception will be on March 1st from 5 -7 pm. “This Must Be the Place” contains paintings and mosaics that are explorations and musings on the objects and ephemera that shape our homes and places. Mary Finlayson’s tightly constructed and highly detailed works capture the feeling of these spaces, evoking the memory of place-often a departure from what is real. Finlayson blends her knowledge of painting and printmaking, attributing her style to a background in silkscreen and lithography. Her pieces pay homage to the likes of Corita Kent, Henri Matisse, and Stuart Davis by borrowing similar bright palettes, repetitive patterns, and simplified forms.
